10:22 pm - For Those "Christmas Music in July" Impluses... Yeah, so sometimes I feel like listening to Christmas music when it's nowhere near Christmas.
The good thing about Traditional Trinidadian Christmas Music ("Parang") is that it does not sound like normal Western Christmas Music. You can listen to it openly and most people don't know what it is because Parang is in Spanish, but sung with a Trinidadian accent by people who don't actually know Spanish (who learned it from other people or records sung by others who did not know Spanish.) 10:17 pm - Song: Can You Feel The Love Tonight (Elton John) I was listening to this on my studio headphones last night and picked up on something that I had never before realised: It has a french horn in it. And the player is DAMN GOOD. All these years I thought it was some kind of synthesizer. But the player produced such incredibly pure and consistent tones that on lesser speakers I didn't even make out the fact that it was a horn.
I did play the french horn for a short stint in high school, and I know how challenging it is to make that instrument sound really good. So that only deepens my respect for the player on this CD,
Amazing. Current Location: My Condo Current Mood: impressed

08:10 pm - Jesse Cook Concert Last night I went to Jesse Cook's concert at the local arts centre.
Friggin' awesome.
But I must say one thing:
STUPID COMPLACENT AUDIENCE FULL OF OLD PEOPLE!!!! When you stand up and carry on and pull the musicians back out for the third encore, you are NOT SUPPOSED TO SIT DOWN!!! It's a friggin rumba fiesta and it's supposed to be like a dance party. Jesse made this plainly clear several times. Even the musicians would get discouraged when you sit down and fold your hands.
Jesse Cook = A+
Audience = F-
AUDIENCE, YOU SUCKED!! Current Location: My Condo Current Music: Jesse Cook - Dance of Spring

01:15 pm - Audio Quality I received a new mp3 player for Christmas; Sandisk Sansa e280 (8GB Flash). (I think iPod's characteristics don't warrant its incredible popularity.)
Today I plugged it into my computer speakers, and I must say: WOW. The audio quality on this thing beats the pants off the MCP-T SoundStorm chipset built into my motherboard. The MCP-T is better than a Creative Labs Audigy 1. And the Sansa just blows it away in terms of the detail and clarity in the midrange and high pitch sounds. I'm hearing thing I never before heard in my songs.
Quite a nice player, this is. Current Location: My Condo Current Mood: shocked Current Music: Stevie Wonder - Passtime Paradise

04:54 pm - Songs All last night my brain kept playing that "Moms like you use Jiff" jingle from that peanut butter ad that ran so many years ago.
And all today it was "The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and The Blues. At least that one is explainable because it was featured prominently in Back To The Future. Current Mood: sleepy
