05:59 pm - Forgetting What You Put In The Fridge... This is reminiscent of a certain Cowboy Bebop episode... This evening I saw an older sour cream container in the fridge. Past the expiry date. I opened it up and looked inside and my heart started thumping as I recoiled in horror, wondering what the hell it was I just saw growing in that sour cream container. And then I realised it. 08:36 pm - Who'd Have Thought?! Well it turns out that even super-awesome foods like chinese BBQ duck and soy chicken can cause tastebud fatigue. The local Chinese Grocery sells of their extra BBQ Duck, Chicken and Pork at the end of the day in bulk for cheap. I picked up one and a half birds. 02:39 pm - Icewine I brought some Peller Estates Private Reserve Icewine to my parents' place for (Canadian) Thanksgiving this weekend. Oh my goodness. This stuff is pure Ambrosia. Nectar of the Gods. No wonder it's so expensive. Words cannot communicate how astonishingly delicious it is. Just amazing. I think we have a new Thanksgiving tradition! 10:27 pm - Dentist That dental polish plus flouride wash stuff is one of the worst tastes ever. It's made even worse because it lingers for the whole day. Just thinking of the taste of that stuff makes me gag. The worst part is you can't properly taste food, so I avoid cooking nice food until the next day. Ewww... 07:39 pm - Poor Man's Steamer I bought these Chinese "Shao Mai" dim sum kinda things, but I didn't realise you needed a steamer to cook them. They've been sitting in my freezer for months now, so today I decided to do something about it. 1. Fill the bottom of a large saucepan with water. 2. Put frozen dim sum on top of perforated round pizza tray. 3. Put pizza tray on top of saucepan and boil the water. 4. Put transparent pie dish over top of dim sum to keep the steam in. It worked perfectly! The only thing is that the dripping from the dim sum dripped through and started to burn on the bottom of the saucepan. Gotta use more water next time.
